CLIDE Privacy Policy
Version 1 · Effective October 2, 2026
This policy says what information Lint Trap Media, LLC ("we", "us") gets when you use CLIDE: the desktop app, its install scripts and updates, the Tool Marketplace, and the clide.tools website. It is part of the CLIDE Beta Terms of Use.
In short
- CLIDE has no account, no sign-up, no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting and no ads.
- The app goes online for two things of its own: checking for updates, and the Tool Marketplace when you open it or install a tool from it.
- What you do in CLIDE stays on your computer. We cannot see it.
- The AI agents and the programs you run with CLIDE are your own. They send what they send under their own policies, not this one.
- We do not sell or share personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
What the app sends
Update checks. Shortly after it starts, and then every six hours while it runs, CLIDE asks downloads.clide.tools for a small file that says what the newest version is. When there is one, it downloads it from there too. These requests carry nothing about you or your use of CLIDE. Like any request on the internet, they reveal your IP address and basic technical details (such as the kind of program asking) to the server. downloads.clide.tools is hosted by Cloudflare, which may keep short-lived logs of requests to deliver and protect the service, under Cloudflare's own privacy policy. We do not use these requests to identify or track you.
The install scripts on clide.tools download CLIDE from the same place, in the same way.
The Tool Marketplace. When you open the Tool Marketplace in CLIDE, it downloads the list of tools from marketplace.clide.tools, and the screenshots it shows. When you install or update a tool, it downloads that tool's files from there. Searching and browsing happen on your computer: what you type in the search box is not sent anywhere. These requests, too, carry nothing about you and reveal only your IP address and basic technical details to the server, which Cloudflare hosts and may log as above.
CLIDE itself makes no other network requests. If we add paid tools later, buying them may need more (such as a license check); we will update this policy, and say so in CLIDE, before anything more is collected.
What stays on your computer
CLIDE keeps these in its data folder on your computer:
- the tools you opened recently, and your recent runs;
- each tool's run history: the inputs you gave, what the run printed, and where its results went;
- earlier versions of tools you changed (in a file beside each tool);
- your choice of AI agent, model and effort, custom agent commands, and model names CLIDE has seen;
- tools an AI agent made for you, and where your file dialogs last opened;
- the last copy of the Tool Marketplace's list of tools, so it can show offline, the folder you last installed a tool in, and where the tools you installed from it are;
- for each tool you installed from the Tool Marketplace, a small file beside it saying which Marketplace tool and version it is.
None of this is sent to us. You can remove it at any time: clear the lists in the app, or delete CLIDE's data folder and the `.clide.versions.json` and `.clide.marketplace.json` files beside your tools. Uninstalling CLIDE does not remove your tools or their results.
AI agents and the programs you run
When you ask CLIDE to create or change a tool, it starts the AI agent you chose (such as Claude Code, Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, or a command you set up) on your computer, signed in with your own account. CLIDE gives that agent your request, its own instructions, and any scripts and reference files you chose. The agent sends what it needs to its provider (such as Anthropic, OpenAI or Google) or to a model on your own computer. That is between you and the agent's provider, under their terms and privacy policy. We do not receive any of it.
The same is true of every program a tool runs. If a tool uses the network, it does so on its own.
Before you attach a file or start a tool, think about what is in it and where it might go.
The website
clide.tools is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts of ours. Searching the tools on the site happens in your browser. Cloudflare handles the requests to it and may log them (including IP addresses) to deliver and protect the site, under Cloudflare's own privacy policy.
Some tool pages have videos from YouTube or Vimeo. Until you click one, the page shows only a picture stored on clide.tools, and nothing is sent to YouTube or Vimeo. When you click to play, the video loads from that service: YouTube in its privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), Vimeo with its Do Not Track setting on. From then on, that service receives your IP address and information about your browser, and may set cookies and collect more, under its own privacy policy. Links to other sites, such as GitHub, go to services with their own policies.
If you write to us
If you email us ([email protected]), including to ask for news about CLIDE from the website, we get your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply, or to send you the CLIDE news you asked for, and keep it only as long as that needs. Ask us to stop or to delete it at any time, and we will.
Children
CLIDE is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Your rights
We hold no personal information about you from the app or the website, so there is usually nothing for us to give you, correct or delete. If you think we do hold some, contact us and we will help, as the law where you live requires.
Changes
We may change this policy. The version and date at the top say which one is in effect. When it changes, CLIDE asks you to agree to the terms again, and the website shows the new version.
